Self-guided tour booklet guides you through with the history of the house and the Snowden family.

Docent Guided Tours*


Guided tours are available on the 2nd Saturday and 4th Sunday of the month at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., year round, except for the month of December.

*Sometimes our docents need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Calling ahead is recommended, if you wish to have a tour guide.

Montpelier Gift Shop


The gift shop is open Thursdays through Tuesdays, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is closed on Wednesdays.

The Gift Shop is located in the mansion tour entrance. You'll find Montpelier memorabilia, tea, books for adults and children, music, unique hand-made jewelry and decorative items, and old-fashioned toys.


Location/Directions


Located in Laurel, Maryland, near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

From the D.C. or Baltimore area, take the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (Route 295) to Route 197 (Laurel-Bowie Road). Turn west onto Route 197. Turn left onto Muirkirk Road. Turn right into Montpelier grounds.

From Route 29, turn East onto Route 198. Cross I-95 and Route 1, turn right at the next intersection onto Route 197 (Laurel-Bowie Road). Proceed to Muirkirk Road and turn right. Turn right into the Montpelier Mansion grounds.
